How is it already August?

How am I already planning Tyler’s 4th birthday and Colin’s 1st?

I wish I could freeze time. (Zack Morris style)

So as I sit at my desk listening to them play behind me, I remember when I started this business and how I found my inner flamingo. This is what I dreamed of. I dreamed of being home with my kids and raising them. I dreamed that one day I would be able to tell my kids that I left working for the man to chase a dream. I was never scared of failing, I was more scared of regretting not trying to do something outside of the box.

I’m now celebrating 6 years of business, and I am reminded how I got here; through the love and support of family and friends and the amazing things my clients say to their friends and family about me. I am so proud to say that I have been in business as long as I have without the need to advertise – all my business is word of mouth and I am so thankful for that. Most of my brides will tell you a phone call to me needs about an hour of time – not because of the kids screaming in the background (well sometimes), but because I want to know what else is going on in their lives, besides wedding business. I love to hear when they are buying a new house or new cars, maybe adding a pet. I want to show up to a bride’s day and have her feel like she knows me and I know the inside jokes.

Photographing weddings is not my job, its my passion. Its one of my purposes in life. Its what I was made to do. I want to spend eight hours with you and your crazy family and watch you go from single to married in a ceremony session! I want to witness the first kiss, dance and cake cutting. But after all that is said and done, I want to watch you grow into a power couple. I want to watch you add pets, babies, cars, boats, campers or wherever else your new adventure takes you. So with all that being said, I want to give a huge THANK YOU to every bride that welcomed me into their hearts and wedding day. I want to thank you for the role you played in allowing me to chase my dreams and leave your wedding feeling fulfilled and purposeful.

Since no post is complete without some pictures, here are some new ones of my littles in the backyard. Tyler in his basketball shorts and “work” rain boots and Colin eating dirt and dreaming of the day he can stand side-by-side with Tyler.
