Nicole & Steven 5-14-16
How did you meet?
We met in middle school. We started dating our senior year of high school.
How did the propsal go?
We both took the day off work to attend a Red Wing’s game. I was in the bathroom getting ready when Steve kept saying “come here”. I assumed he was talking to our dog so I ignored his request. After a minute, I realized he was talking to me. I came out of the bathroom and he said he had something else he wanted me to wear for the night. Steve got down on one knee and asked “Will you be a LaBane?”
On our way to the game, we called our parents to let them know. We enjoyed the night and started to tell people the next day.
Wedding Date?
05/14/2016
What was the inspiration behind your wedding?
“Preppy Sherbet”
Navy was the main color of the wedding, but instead of using one color as the accent we used a theme. All of our flowers were “sherbet” colors. (Pastel pinks, yellows, peaches, mints and various shades of white).
What was the most memorable part of your wedding day?
The very last dance of the night. It was just my husband and I on the dance floor. There was no worry or stress of if people were having a good time or socializing with the guests. It was just us, enjoying the moment.
Why was photography important to you and what made you choose Kendra Koman Photography?
When the wedding is over and memories start to fade, all you have left of the day is the photos and video (if applicable). Kendra captures the beauty of your wedding day with a unique twist and without the cheesy poses. Kendra offers her assistance on more than the photography aspect of your wedding. She helped plan the timeline for the day of. If I had any questions, concerns or needed advice when it came to my wedding, I could reach out to her with it.
What was your something old, new, borrowed, and blue?
Old – Garter from Prom (We were high school sweethearts and we went to prom together)
New – Dress and veil
Borrowed – Cuff links pinned to my bouquet that my grandfather wore on his wedding day and a ring from my great grandmother.
Blue – A blue ring that my fiance/husband bought for me as a birthday present a couple years ago.
Did you do any DIY projects? If so what?
Yes.
– Table Numbers
– “LaBane” Sign at the Reception
– Date Night Jar
– Chalkboard signs
– Bathroom baskets
Any advice for brides and grooms who are currently in the planning process?
It will all be worth it. I think I can speak for most brides and grooms that the planning process is rarely as smooth as you see on tv. There will be ups and downs, but on your big day it was all be worth it. Second, don’t sweat the small stuff. Think realistically. On the big day, do not let little mishaps ruin your moment.
If you could do it all over, would you change anything?
No. The day was wonderful… imperfections and all.
What is your favorite part of being married so far?
Doing nothing with him. Wedding planning tends to consume your life so its refreshing to not have to run somewhere on lunch or after work. I enjoy laying on the couch with him or taking a walk.
Where did you go on your honeymoon? Would you recommend it?
We took a three day cruise to the Bahamas and spend a day and a half in South Beach, Miami. We left a week later. It was nice to unwind from a year of planning a wedding.
